What is it?
Senior Services of Alexandria is working with community leaders to establish its newest program: Senior Ambassadors. The goal of the Ambassador program is to reach more seniors across all areas of Alexandria City who may not be aware of the programs and services available to them. This is a volunteer-based program, and we are actively recruiting volunteers who will serve their respective communities. These could be senior living communities, senior centers, community support organizations, assisted living facilities, or houses of worship.
How can I get involved?
This is a very flexible volunteer opportunity. Senior Services provides the information that the volunteer can share in any way they feel comfortable in doing: posting flyers near the elevators, putting information in a newsletter, or talking at a resident meeting. SSA will share regular updates on programs and activities of interest to the community. If you are interested in serving as an Ambassador, email MaryAnne Beatty at communications@seniorservicesalex.org or call 703-836-4414 ext. 113. The next training for new Senior Ambassadors will be held on Monday, December 18th from 10:00 am to noon at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Please contact MaryAnne if planning to attend.
