Learn More About the Gunboat Philadelphia with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History

Visitors to our National Museum of American History can observe conservation work in real time, carried out by a team of underwater archeologists and maritime conservators from Texas A&M’s Nautical Archaeology Program. The Gunboat Philadelphia is the oldest boat from the American Revolution.

Scottish Walk – December 6 – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Old Town Alexandria

Alexandria was founded in 1749 by Scottish merchants and was named after Scotsman John Alexander who owned the land that became Alexandria. Today, the city continues celebrating its heritage with the iconic Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade. Dozens of Scottish clans dressed in colorful tartans parade through the streets of Old Town.

Winter Crafts & Carols – Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden
614 Oronoco St. – Saturday, December 13 – 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Experience the joys of the winter season at the Lee-Fendall House! Create, craft, and carol in this fun and festive community event. Entry times are on the hour starting at 11:00 AM with the last time at 3:00 PM. Tickets are $10 per adult and $5 per child (ages 2+). Children under 2 are admitted for free.
