Safely dispose of unneeded prescription and over-the-counter medications, including those prescribed by veterinarians, during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. A collection will take place on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the following drop-off sites: Alexandria Police Department Headquarters (3600 Wheeler Ave.), Fire Station 210 (5255 Eisenhower Ave.), The Neighborhood Pharmacy of Del Ray (2204 Mt. Vernon Ave.), Walgreens Pharmacy (3614 King St.)

Come celebrate spring at the Robust Walkathon at Ben Brenman Park on Tuesday, May 7 from10am-Noon. You’ll enjoy an invigorating walk around the lake, pausing at exercise stations where participants will perform low-intensity activities that will help you gain balance, agility, and flexibility. The suggested donation of $10 supports the Successful Aging Committee’s annual holiday events, the Dance for All Ages, and the Health & Fitness Fair.

Senior Services of Alexandria’s Health and Fitness Fair – Thursday, May 23 at 10 am at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson Street, Alexandria

The Successful Aging Committee is sponsoring the annual Senior Health & Fitness Fair on Thursday, May 23 from 10am-noon. This year’s fair will be a fun and interactive program featuring a presentation by the Inova Community Health Team, blood pressure and glaucoma screenings, a healthy cooking demonstration by the chef from The View Alexandria, chair yoga, and exercise with RPCA’s Rodney! The event will be held at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson Street, Alexandria. Light refreshments will be provided and the event is free, but please register by emailing events@seniorservicesalex.org or call 703-836-4414, ext. 110.

Senior Law Day – Saturday, June 8

Save the date for the 12th annual Senior Law Day on Saturday, June 8 from 8:30am-12:30pm. The theme will be “Protecting Ourselves as We Age: Essential Personal and Financial Strategies”. Join SSA and the Alexandria Bar Association for this free and informative seminar to make sure you are protected from scams and learn about strategies for aging well in Alexandria. The free event will be held at the First Baptist Church, 2932 King Street in Alexandria.
