January 11th: Freedom House Museum
1315 Duke Street, Alexandria
Meet at Beatley Central Library at 10:00 am and return by 1:00 pm.
A National Historic Landmark owned by the Northern Virginia Urban League, Freedom House Museum is located in the basement-level of one of the most infamous slave trading companies in the country, and bears a connection to the story depicted in the Oscar winning film 12 Years a Slave. The museum is small but powerful with original artifacts and first-person narratives told through video and exhibits.
