Orchids were a passion of Pierre du Pont and his wife, Alice when they lived at Longwood Gardens outside of Philadelphia. Both Mr. and Mrs. du Pont were charter members of the American Orchid Society. Orchids were one of the first plant collections—started in 1922. Click
