Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA) is proud to announce that it received a $5,000 395 Express Lanes Community Grant to support its Meals on Wheels Saturday program.  Senior Services of Alexandria, in partnership with the City’s Division of Aging and Adult Services and over 350 volunteers, is one of the few organizations in Northern Virginia which delivers Meals on Wheels every day of the week to seniors who are homebound or disabled.  SSA and DAAS recently expanded their outreach efforts to the city’s immigrant communities through a translation service that facilities communications with non-English speaking clients.

“We are thankful to Transurban’s 395 Express Lanes Community Grant Program for the generous community grant in support of our 7-day a week Meals on Wheels program”, said Mary Lee Anderson, SSA’s Executive Director.  “This is a life-sustaining program that serves the City’s most vulnerable seniors, helping them stay connected to the community and remain safe in their homes.”
