Beatley Central Library and Senior Services of Alexandria are offering two new co-sponsored senior programs: Old Town Senior Tours, and Food Trends for Seniors.

Old Town Senior Tours

Interested in learning more about your city’s history? Join us as we tour Old Town and visit some of its most valuable landmarks. Alexandria has a rich history, and this is a great chance to see it for yourself! Each month, we will visit a different site, including the Carlyle House (Jan 12th), the Black History Museum (Feb. 9th), the Murray-Dick Fawcett House (March 9th), Stabler-Leadbetter Apothecary (April 13th), and The Lyceum (May 4th). This new program is free and transportation will be provided, but space is extremely limited. Only 15 individuals will be able to attend each tour. RSVP below call 703.836.4414 x 110.  Registration is currently only open for the February 9th Black History Museum tour. Interested in attending a later tour? Check back next month to register!

Food Trends for Seniors

Healthy eating trends are constantly changing. Ever wonder which ones are right for you? Join Madison Reeder, a Registered Dietitian from InovaCares for SeniorsTM PACE Program, as she explains which trends are best to incorporate in our diets as we age, and which are best to avoid. Each session will include a cooking demonstration and food samples. Held the 4th Friday of every month (with the exception of March’s event, which will be held on the 5th Friday of the month), these events are free. However, participants must register ahead of time. To attend our February 23rd session, which will focus on the nutritional benefits of chia seeds and raspberries, RSVP below or call 703.836.4414 x 110.
